During my time at That One Video Gamer (TOVG) I was given the opportunity to help rebrand the entire company. This included a new company logo to be used on all public platforms, a new intro and matching assets for several online shows: “New Game +”, “Top 10s”, “A Complete Legacy”, and the headline show of the channel “The Completionist”.

The project was a large undertaking; I was given near-full creative control and trust when it come to directing, filming, and post-production work. While working on this project, I was still designing and animating chapter titles for the two ongoing weekly shows on the channel.

Originally hired at TOVG to be a temporary-remote editor to act as a freelancer while the company hired someone who could work in-studio. About a month into working, the world was impacted by the pandemic which resulted in the world working from home.

During my time at TOVG, the videos I edited and created assets for resulted in what CEO Jirard Khalil described as “the best work we have ever produced”, then giving me the chance to direct a new documentary retrospective show.

Once the company was able to hire a new editor I was effectively promoted as the lead motion designer, allowing me to focus my time on polishing videos to the best they could be.

I worked fervently with the producers, writers, designers, and post-production crew with an 18 hour time difference to finish two videos a week.

On top of my distinct duties, I was asked to create all new assets for all of the shows the channel released, as well as the branding of the company itself.

It was a fun experience where I used visual language that would be familiar for the millions of subscribers, with a specific goal to keep it concise, striking, and flexible. This way I could keep a direct through-line between all of the shows while not limiting any future projects that the company may grow into.

My favourite aspect of my work with TOVG was the collaborative nature with writers, where every single project we covered would have a new idea that I would need to unique assets and visuals for. It was consistent problem-solving and creative thinking that breathed new life into every episode I worked on.

I’m extremely thankful to TOVG for trusting me with handling these projects. It was beyond humbling to have them believe in me as our project goals were actualized.

As we were leading up to developing the new intro for the 10 year anniversary of That One Video Gamer, I was given full creative control of the direction of a new show for the channel called “A Complete Legacy” - a documentary show that explored the entire history of a game series’ development and cultural impact.

The direction I gave the show was a theme of marble statues, as if the audience were to explore a museum of the respective series. My responsibilities included script supervision, video editing, directing voice-over talent, VFX, designing, and both 3D & 2D animation.

The Complete Legacy was well-received by the client and is considered by CEO Jirard Khalil to be one of the highest production-value shows on the entire TOVG channel.
